The Washington County Rural Heritage Museum is home to three indoor museums of early 19th century cars and bicycles made in Hagerstown, elegant horse-drawn carriages once owned by Madeline Vinton Dahlgren, farm trucks, horse drawn wagons and plows, grain, dairy and orchard harvesting equipment. Local 19th century textiles, spinning wheels, fashion, funeral carriages and a Boonsboro parlor and kitchen connect today's visitors to home life of the past. Our 1800's rural village of original structures that were relocated to our location are surounded by a medicinal garden, butterfly and 4 Square garden, Windmill, Rock Crusher and Sawmill.
The Friends of the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum support the museums and village by preserving, interpreting and educating others by way of tours of our exhibits and events about our local Maryland heritage.
Tours for schools and other groups are also available by appointment during the week. Please go to our Tour tab.
