SPINNING WHEEL EXHIBIT DEMONSTRATION
Saturday May 25th 2pm - 4pm
On Saturday May 25, from 2pm - 4pm, 18th century historian Deborah Rochefort will demonstrate spinning techniques on our newly repaired 1812 Flax Spinning Wheel in our Spinning Wheel Exhibit area.
Spinning has been seen as an essential expression of a woman’s home and family and also a means of self-sufficiency. so come over and watch how the process of how raw wool is turned into yarn. Come and appreciate the timelessness of the great wheel one used in the Fahrney family and flax wheel that was found at a local grist mill.
Bring a comfortable chair and beverage if you choose (non-alcoholic please) relax and enjoy as you listen to the hum of the wheels. Also, made from scratch cookies by Touch of Colonial Bakehouse (while supplies last).
